Team Teach / Positive Handling
Team Teach is an accredited strategy of positive handling and behaviour management.
Positive behaviour support strategies promote verbal and non-verbal de-escalation, communication, personal safety and teamwork.
As a last resort, for the safety of everyone, we may occasionally resort to positive handling to resolve conflicts and to allow time to repair and restore the relationships of all involved.
Sometimes our children with SEN or vulnerabilities become
overwhelmed and are unable to manage their reactions to stressful situations.
This often displays itself as anger or aggression. You may find that attempting to intervene ends up in injury and an escalation of emotions.
As (trained) adults we model positive calm behaviour and teach de-escalation techniques, affording children and young people the skills to better recognise and manage conflict and their own big feelings.
Team Teach can be employed in any location:
* Home.
* Educational settings
* Hospitals / care homes.
* Social care settings.
